The NIC has a grievance redressal rate of 97.07%, and the percentage of Incurred Claims Ratio (ICR) is 114.24%., as of 2019. ICR is the ratio of the claims settled by them, to the total premiums paid to them in one financial year.

The NIC has branch offices in all the major cities in India. Any issue or grievance will be resolved within 14 days from submission of the complaint. If the issue still remains unresolved, it can be taken to the notice of the insurance company’s head office. If still unresolved, it can be escalated further to the Insurance Ombudsman.
