Reliance Health Gain Plan

Reliance Health Gain is one of the most sought after Reliance health insurance plans in India. It is a smart plan with many features that cover in-patient hospitalization expenses. The policy offers discounts for girl child/ single women and offers Wellness services such as free health check-up and chemist discounts. It is available in 2 variants-Plan A and Plan B. This plan has some distinct features which are as follows:

  • This plan is available for both individual and family floater versions.
  • The Family Floater Health Insurance plan offers a 5% discount for a girl child or a single woman.

This policy provides relief benefits in case of unforeseen accidents that can cause death or bodily damage. This plan provides coverage for your medical expenses for disability or death caused by accidents. Both complete and partial disabilities are covered under this health plan. Exclusions of the Reliance Health Insurance

Most of the Reliance Health Insurance plans do not cover the following illnesses/expenses unless specified in the policy document.

  • Claims for any medical expenses other than an injury that occur within 30 days of the Mediclaim policy start day will not be covered.
  • Some illnesses or surgeries will not be covered in the first two years of the policy like Arthritis/Osteoarthritis and Osteoporosis/Gout and Vertebrae Disorders like Spondylitis, Spondylosis, etc.
  • Joint Replacement Surgery expenses are excluded.
  • ENT Disorders and Surgeries and Sinusitis are not covered.
  • Cataract treatment is excluded.
  • Hernia and Hydrocele are excluded
  • Any kind of Internal Tumors/ nodules, polyps or cysts, unless malignant etc. are not covered.
  • No coverage is offered for Kidney Stone or Gall Bladder Stone treatment. 
  • Any pre-existing conditions, ailments, or injuries within 36 months, prior to the policy start date.
  • Self-inflicted injuries are not covered.
  • Injury due to alcohol, drugs or criminal acts is usually excluded.
  • Stem Cell implants/ Congenital diseases
  • Injuries due to war / nuclear/chemical or biological processes
  • HIV / AIDS or STDs are listed in the list of exclusion.
  • Maternity/ Fertility issues are excluded.
  • Mental illness treatment expenses are not covered.
  • Cosmetic or aesthetic therapy/ Dental treatment or surgeries are excluded.
  • Non-allopathic or self-medication procedures are not covered by most Reliance health Insurance plans.

Eligibility Criteria to Buy the Reliance Health Insurance policy

Anyone who fits the following conditions can apply for Reliance Health insurance plans.

  • There is no restriction of age limit for health insurance for sum Insured of Rs 3 Lakh.
  • For individual/floater option under Health Insurance plans, the minimum age is 5 years and above.
  • For Floater options, children from the age of 91 days to 4 years can be covered with at least one member who is 21 years old or above.
  • The maximum entry age for all health insurance plans is 65 years. 

Reliance Health Insurance Claim Process 

Reliance provides 2 ways to make a claim under a Reliance Health Insurance Policy:

A.) Cashless basis

B.) Reimbursement basis

  • Cashless Claim- For making a claim on a cashless basis, the insured needs to seek the treatment only at a network hospital of the Reliance health insurance group. He/she needs to get authorization from the company as per the procedures.
  • Reimbursement Claim- In case of such claims, one first needs to intimate the insurance company as per the prescribed method in the policy. The policyholder has to submit all documents like the claim form, discharge summary, bills, and prescriptions to Reliance Health Insurance. 

The Reliance Health insurance Claims process has the following steps:

Claim Intimation Process

  •  The insured needs to inform the insurance provider about hospitalization 48 hours before in case of planned hospitalization and within 24 hours after hospitalization in case of unplanned or emergency hospitalization

  • Details such as Policy number, patient details and contact number, nature of illness/injury, and the hospital contact details are required as well

The claim process for Cashless Facility 

  • The hospitalization should be done in any of the hospitals on the network hospital list.
  • The insured needs to show the R-Card at the hospital and fill the cashless request form.
  • Next is to submit the form along with the health card copy at the hospital at the time of hospitalization. 

Once the Reliance Health insurance claim is authorized and the documents are verified, one can avail of the cashless facility

Claim Process for Reimbursement Facility

In case of emergency hospitalization: 

  • Immediately intimate the insurance company as soon as hospitalization takes place 
  • Register the Reliance health insurance claim at RCare Health call center
  • Make the hospital bill payments in full 
  • At the time of discharge, keep all the original bills, documents, and reports intact.
  • Register a Reliance health insurance claim with RCare Health /TPA for processing and reimbursement, by filling in the claim form and attaching required documents as mentioned in the claim form 

In the case of planned hospitalization:

  • Intimate the company at the RCare Health /TPA of the planned hospitalization
  • Get hospitalized and make the required hospital bill payments 
  • At the time of discharge, keep all the original bills, documents, and reports intact
  • Fill in the claim form and submit required documents 
  • Register a Reliance health insurance claim with RCare Health or the TPA for processing 
  • One needs to submit the original bills/ documents /reports within 10 days after discharge from the hospital as per the insurer’s request. He/she can even send the documents to the following address:

To claim the money spent in hospital bills and expenses for treatment, the original copies of the following documents are to be submitted:

  • Hospital details – Name, address, location of the hospital, or nursing home where the person insured is undergoing treatment (whether unregistered or non-network hospital,) should be provided. You can also include the duration of treatment, nurses, doctors, available beds, etc. 
  • Medical bills –Original bills, stamped and signed by the authorities of the hospital.
  • Discharge Report –The original discharge report from the hospital has to be submitted.
  • Other Reports – Original reports regarding treatment, such as lab reports, other investigation reports, and medical bills have to be submitted.
  • Other details – The insured also needs to collect and furnish other follow-up details from the hospital follow-up and future line of treatment, along with any original bills.
  • Claim form – All the above-mentioned documents need to be submitted along with the Claim form, which should be correctly filled and signed.

The expenses for the same will not be covered by the policy and will not be considered for reimbursement by the policy.

  • Q. Can I add additional family members to an existing Reliance health insurance policy?

    Ans: No, you cannot add family members in the middle of a policy term. This will only be exempted in the case of a newly married spouse or a new-born baby above 91 days. New family members can be added to your existing policy only when you are renewing your Individual policy or floater insurance policy. This would be subjected to approval and applicable underwriting guidelines of Reliance Health Insurance.

    However, you can add or change a nominee in the middle of a policy term.
